Three Air Cadets from the Squadron were celebrating after receiving their Wing Marksman badges.
Working in partnership with their sister Squadron 51, also based in Peterborough, they were given the opportunity to spend a full day on the air rifle range, learning how to correctly handle the BSA Scorpion air rifle and then to put the new skills into practice.
Under the watchful eye of Warrant Officer (ATC) Darren Smith, they learnt how to successfully target shoot on the indoor range, in the prone, kneeling and standing positions.
All three were able to obtain the correct grouping to qualify them for their ATC Wing Marksman badges, which were presented to them by Squadron Leader Rob Bradshaw RAF VR(T), North Sector Officer for Beds and Cambs Wing.
Cadet Corporals Josh Kelly, Rylan Fowler and Ryan Millen are now proud owners of the marksman badges.
Cpl Rylan Fowler is developing his skills within this area, keen to progress and has used these skills to progress on to the L98 A2 cadet rifle ‘I am really pleased that I was able to gain this qualification and being able to progress from the air rifle and use the skills I learnt at 51 Squadron to move on to attending the wing shooting events and hopefully gain my Regional Marksmanship qualification’
