This year the Air Training Corps is 75 years old and there will be several events and activities to mark this notable anniversary.
The first for us is the Beds & Cambs Wing parade & service to be held in Ely Cathedral on 7 Feb 16. Other planned events are:
Woodland Trust Tree Planting in each region | Discussions to create a legacy for the environment |
ATC 75 Torch Relay John O’Groates to Land’s End | Finish at Land’s End so torch and log of the journey can be deposited in the museum |
Cross Channel Relay Swim | Two teams of eight swimmers per team to swim under Channel swimming rules to ensure recognition upon completion |
Aerospace Camp at RAF Syerston | Practise camp enrolled this year, with a project team established or 2016 |
Flagship Parade at RAF Cranwell and Music-on-the-Orange | Plans underway, preceded by drill and ceremonial for over 300 cadets. Staging, potential flypast and soloists |
Sports Challenge | A series of physical tests that are easy to administer |
Time Capsule | To be buried outside HQAC and opened on the ATC 100th anniversary in 2041 |
Commemorative Coin | Awaiting confirmation from the Royal Mint |
Sponsorship – RAF Cadet Development Trust | Target of £5m being explored |
RIAT 16/ Farnborough 16 | RIAT has agreed to devote one day to ‘youth’ and ATC 75 |
RAF Museum Displays | Charting the history of the ATC from 1941 to present day. Supporting material to include display cases, display items and to a 3 to 5 minute DVD on a loop. |
